Founded by a disabled combat Veteran, Broken Warrior Ranch goal is to introduce the equine therapy benefits with the many Veterans across our state that battle PTSD and other mental and physical issues. The benefits can be seen in equine therapy programs all around, but none that cater specifically to our state Veterans.
BWR founder, Chris Dunn, is a disabled combat Veteran. Having had major TBI and PTSD, he knows the benefits of a quality therapy and that was his motivation for developing BWR.
All sitting board members are disabled combat Veterans.
To offer Veterans a safe and therapeutic place to relax and have a break from the daily struggles of PTSD and other issues associated with military deployments and service.
We serve the approximately 290,000 Veterans in Oklahoma, with approximately 110,000 of those having some level of service connected disability.
They would come for a day, a weekend, or a whole week. We would have bunkhouse and rooms available for those staying, as well as meals and camaraderie.
While equine therapy is the focus of the therapeutic activities, we have a much larger vision. Spend the day riding, fishing, or putting some arrows in a target, followed by an evening cookout and camaraderie and laughs around a bonfire. These are what the experience at BWR will be like.
BWR's vision is to be a place for ALL of our Oklahoma Disabled Veterans to relax, de-stress and spend some time enjoying the camaraderie of fellow veterans. No matter what branch, or what era served. We will always look to improve ways we can offer this experience to those who earned it by serving for us.
